This blog is following Sara McLoudrey and ROOT Dog Training’s new American Water Spaniel (AWS) though her training journeys. Rizzo (Coastal Magic You’re The One That I Want) was born on March 4, 2010 and joined our family May 1, 2010.
At ROOT, we strive to help you develop well-behaved companion and competition dogs using positive reinforcement – operant and classical conditioning – training techniques. This positive approach to training is done with the use of a clicker, food, praise, and fun. At ROOT, we never train with the use of force, physical manipulation or corrective collars.
Sara McLoudrey CDPT-KA, TAG-L2, has been active with dogs since she was 9 years old. She has had the pleasure of sharing her life with a Schodoole, Lab, Border Collie, a number of Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, and now an American Water Spaniel.
We are looking forward to where Rizzo’s journey will lead us.

Hi Sara,
Remember Buzzby & me? We are interested in one of the Wednesday AM classes. Which would you suggest for Mr. B & me? I’m leaning towards 10 AM but open to your suggestion. He is doing really well on basic commands but is still very very “friendly”….as in he wants to greet every dog, person he sees. I would like better control when we are around other living beings! Thanks, Barbara
